Fantastic Stamps and What to do With Them
Interested in thousands of fantastic rubber stamps, stamping supplies and tools? Welcome to Fantastic Rubber Stamps.
I love fantastic rubber stamps. I don’t mean the everyday type stamps. I mean the ones that grab you; they call out to you “saying I’m the one!”
This weekend I had the opportunity to see all my friends’ fantastic stamps. We like to get together once a month to stamp. Now if you do this with your friends you know it means a lot of laughter, competiveness and fun. This month we decided to use the stamps that grab us.
I have 3 brands of stamps that are guaranteed to be fantastic. I love my House Mouse stamps. I can always find something among my TAC and Stampin’ Up stamps. I am always guaranteed an outstanding project with one of these stamps.
I’m not saying these are the best on the market, but that they grab me for various reasons. A fantastic rubber stamp must have great potential, have a clean design and be deeply grooved. You don’t want a stamp that has so many cuts that are close together but not deeply grooved. Otherwise, you will get smudges.
What good is a stamp that only works for certain things? Now, I do have exceptions to this. Most seasonal stamps are only good for that particular season, and there are a few stamps that only work for certain types of decorating. You would never use very small stamps as a main eye catcher on a wall. Like wise a stamps with many cuts wouldn’t do for wall stamping. You would use a larger stamp with few details to get the best design on a wall.
Yet for scrapbooking and card making you want a fantastic stamp with detail. I have made quick cards with very simple designs, but I love my time consuming work of arts. I do use large, few cut stamps for beautiful stain glass looks. They also are very useful when molding toilet paper.
This was the medium I chose for these months get together. I chose 6 of my most fantastic stamps, the cheapest toilet paper I could find, beautiful spring looking paper and other supplies, and off I went to amaze my friends. Be aware that TP takes a long time to dry. I use 3 sheets, get them fairly wet, press them over the stamp image making sure to get the whole image press into the TP. I do this first then organize everything and start preparing my cards for the TP image. When this is done, I make sure that the TP is dry. I use my heat embosser or a hair dryer to finish drying the toilet paper. I then tear around the image and glue or tape to the card. This medium is great for water colors, and does not require a lot of added decoration. I very seldom add more than a frame or chiffon bow.
I have used this method to make pictures, wall decoration and jewelry. I do the above steps then cover the piece with several coats of acrylic.
We had a wonderful time with our grab me fantastic rubber stamps. I came home with lots of new ideas, and another set of 12 cards to sale.
